NextGen Childcare Provider

Purpose:

To care for children, ages infant to 4 years old, while their parents are involved in church related programs.

Supervision:

Childcare Providers are under the direct supervision of the Childcare Administrator and the NextGen Lead. They are responsible to the Session through its NextGen Team and Personnel Committee.

Status:

This is a part time, non-exempt position, with no benefits.

Evaluation:

An annual performance evaluation will be performed by the Childcare Administrator or NextGen Lead.

Responsibilities:

To provide quality childcare as requested for church programs, showing love, patience, respect, and kindness to all children and to follow all appropriate policies and procedures in dealing with children under the care of the church. These include the following primarily administrative functions:

Prepare the room before children arrive to ensure that interesting and inviting age appropriate activities are available for children to choose from. Maintain the room in a clean, organized manner.

Fill out the Childcare Sign-In sheets completely. Indicate date, event/program and time of worship where applicable.

Ensure parents have a current registration card on file. Pull the child’s registration card from the box when the parent signs in to have parent information, allergy information and information about the child readily available.

Assign a pager to parents of all children ages five and under.

Participate in the children’s play and assist them while they engage in the various activities available in the room. Hold and play with children ages 0-4.

Able to lift at least 40 pounds, bend, squat, and be in good physical health.

Lead age-appropriate Christian activities including singing songs, reading Bible stories and leading grace before snack.

Possess working knowledge of child development.

Clean all toys as per the policy and procedure set forth in the manual.

Inventory the childcare room prior to the end of the work period to ensure:

  • Sufficient snacks are in the cupboard
  • Sufficient diapers, wipes, gloves, and changing table paper are on hand
  • All toys and books have been put in the proper place and room is neat
  • Clipboard has sufficient quantity of sign-in sheets
  • Childcare Administrator knows of any supplies requiring replenishing

Submit the results of your TB test every 4 years (showing negative results) to your supervisor.

Preference for a valid CPR and First Aid card (Adult, Child, and Infant) with the results provided to the supervisor.

Complete your time-sheet each time you report to work.

Provide at least 24 hours’ notice to the Childcare Administrator if unable to work when scheduled.

Immediately report any violations of policy or procedures to the Childcare Administrator or NextGen Lead.

The child care worker is expected to:

  • Maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Be supportive of BurlPres and church staff in all contacts with the church membership and the general public
  • Perform other tasks as requested
