Kirkin of the Tartan

There will be Bagpipes, kilts, shortbread, and even some Scottish Folk Dancing!  Since the late 1930’s, churches around the country have celebrated their Scottish heritage by having a “Kirkin.”  Kirk, means “church” or “blessing,” and “Tartan,” is the name of a Scottish family or clan. Families who would like to come forward for a blessing during service can bring a family symbol or Tartan with them, and their family will receive a blessing specifically for them.
