In the Middle East

Egypt (the land of Moses freeing the slaves, land of Jesus’ protection from the Roman governor, land of very early Christianity, and of concentrated Presbyterian missions for almost 200 years) is the focus of our world news this week.

Not only is Egypt pivotal for democracy to seek a foothold beyond Israel in the Middle East, not only is Egypt a keystone to making peace in the Middle East—Egypt is the home of hundreds of thousands of Christians whose churches are getting bombed, burned, and blown up by Islamists daily.

Let us pray for God’s protection for our Christian brothers and sisters who are being singled out for death and destruction.
