One Great Hour of Sharing: Palm Sunday, April 13

One Great Hour of SharingOnce again, BurlPres is participating in the One Great Hour of Sharing annual mission offering during Lent.

As we prepare for OGHS, we can be grateful for the ministries made possible by this churchwide special offering. You will find an OGHS offering envelope in your bulletin on Palm Sunday, April 13, the day our offering will be collected.

There are also offering envelopes and children’s offering boxes available in the Narthex.

Typhoon Relief in the Philippines

Typhoon HaiyanWhen Typhoon Haiyan struck on November 8, it was one of the worst storms recorded in history. Hundreds of thousands of people are displaced.

Our church is receiving funds, 100% of which will be used on site there by our partner churches. Supplies include drinking water, emergency shelter kits, money for work programs, and more.  We can respond in Christ’s name by giving and by praying.

If you would like to give to help relieve this suffering, over and above your pledge, please submit a check or credit card payment to the church, marked “Typhoon.”  We will update you later this month on Presbyterian relief work there.

Hunger Doesn’t Take a Summer Break

Canned FoodCALL Primrose Center experiences a decrease in donations during the summer. Unfortunately this coincides with increased requests for food. When school-funded meal programs stop for the summer, families are forced to stretch their already tight budgets.

To help alleviate this burden, bags of additional food are distributed to pre-qualified families through the summer months.

“It is vitally important that our summer donations come in strong in order for us to meet these increased summer needs,” says Mary Watt, Executive Director at CALL Primrose.

Currently we are very low on canned beans and boxed rice. Please drop off your donations at 139 Primrose Road, Burlingame, Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Call (650) 342-2255 or email contact@callprimrose.org for more information about how you can help!
