The CALL Primrose Center is a joint venture of FPCB and the United Methodist Church of Burlingame. The purpose of CALL is to provide a mid-Peninsula telephone and walk-in site for people in need of emergency direct aid with food from the CALL Center’s in-house food pantry, and to provide assistance information and referrals. Permanent volunteers are currently needed (especially Office Volunteers). The following volunteer opportunities are available:
Office Volunteers – As an office volunteer you will answer phones, greet visitors, refer clients, accept donations, assist with grocery distribution, and much more! Volunteers work one of two shifts, either from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., one day per week.
Pantry Volunteer – These volunteers pack and organize the groceries we distribute to clients. Volunteers work one of two shifts, either from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., one day per week.
Food Bank Shopper – These volunteers make monthly shopping trips to the Food Bank. Currently, substitute drivers are needed to fill in from time to time. Shoppers will become familiar with the Food Bank procedures. Volunteers must have their own transportation (truck not necessary) and be able to do a minimal amount of lifting.
Pick Up Partners – These volunteers pick up food donations for CALL from various food sources. Permanent or “on-call” volunteers are needed. The hours are flexible. Volunteers must have their own transportation (truck not necessary) and be able to do a minimal amount of lifting.
